  The History of Lampe Berger

Lampe Berger is an Aromatherapy Lampe that dates back more than 100 years.

A pharmaceutical chemist, Maurice Berger, for whom the lamp is named, discovered the catalytic effect of a burner that reaches extremely high temperatures combusting a special liquid solution that releases certain molecules that capture and destroy odors. This patented design has withstood the test of time.

During the early part of the century, the Lampe Berger was used in hospitals, morgues, slaughter houses, and in polluting industries as it was discovered that this catalytic effect not only destroyed bad odors, but also destroyed bacteria.

Today, with the addition of perfumes to the liquid, the Lampe Berger serves a three-fold purpose. One is to destroy odors, the second is the diffusion of mild perfumes into the air, and the third is to stop the proliferation of bacteria. A fourth reason, which has become quite a craze in Europe, and now infecting the United States, is the collectible value of the many stylish lamp designs.

The Lampe Berger, a precious item in which noble materials submit to the artist’s imagination, in which playing shadows echo subtle perfumes, offers a stunning and unique collection by some of Europe’s most inspired artists. From Regis Dho to Stefano Poletti to Pierre Casenove, the Berger lamps are designed from simple and elegant to wild and exotic.
